FAQ

Professional coaching services that are an evolution of psychotherapy, mental health and marriage counseling.

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about my coaching services, including the process, our time together and pricing structure.  But if there's something additional you'd like to know then I'm here to help and I'd love to hear from you!

How can I determine if your coaching services are right for me?

If you want to make positive changes in your life, career, or relationships and are ready to take the next step, my coaching services may be a great fit. My approach benefits those who appreciate a deep understanding of the psychological aspects of change and growth.  The best way to decide though, is to come in and meet for a consultation.

What is the focus of your coaching services?

My services focus on facilitating personal and professional growth, setting and achieving goals, and improving life, career, and relationship satisfaction. Unlike traditional psychotherapy, which often addresses past traumas, coaching is centered in the present, aiming to unlock your potential for desired change.

How does your background in psychotherapy enhance your coaching services?

My years as a licensed mental health counselor give me deep insight into human behavior, emotional challenges, and growth. This experience enhances my coaching, allowing me to offer a more comprehensive, holistic, and creative approach. I focus on strategies that tackle both emotional and practical aspects of your goals.

How are your coaching sessions structured, and how long until I see results?

Each session is tailored to your goals and needs, combining present-focused thoughts and actions while also addressing underlying patterns that may be getting in the way of desired change.  This dual focus ensures a well-rounded coaching experience. Sessions blend meta-topics that brought you in with current concerns, providing an organic flow between both.

What can I expect during a session with you?

Sessions are lively and engaging. I listen closely, offer straightforward feedback, and suggest new perspectives. We’ll break down thoughts, patterns, and ideas, rebuilding them in constructive ways. This is true for individuals and couples, although couples sessions include specific techniques to teach and support new forms of communication. Expect occasional colorful language and plenty of laughter, creating a dynamic, helpful environment.

How much do your services cost?

My services are available on a retainer basis, customized to your needs, and include support between sessions. I provide priority scheduling, working around your preferences instead of conforming to standard business hours. Pricing is higher than conventional psychotherapy rates due to the personalized and concierge nature of my services.

Two primary agreement structures:

  • Monthly:  A set amount of time each month (60, 90, or 120 minutes) with no minimum enrollment commitment.  Payment is set as an auto-charge within the first five days of the month and continues until our work is complete.

  • Packages:  A time-bank purchased upfront, allowing flexible scheduling. Schedule as needed, with time deducted accordingly. For example, if a 2-hour session is scheduled and our conversation is completed in 90 min, then that's the actual time that's deducted from your time-bank.

What is priority scheduling and how does it work?

Ease of scheduling is an aspect of what sets my services apart - priority scheduling means that I work around the needs of my clients rather than maintaining conventional business hours.  Schedule needs are addressed during the consultation appointment and are part of the conversation about mutual compatibility.  For example, if I'm in a work agreement with a couple who have young children and their available childcare is on a Sunday morning, and I currently have availability, then that's when we'll meet.   When existing clients reach out to request an appointment time, I ask them to send one or two times they prefer, and we go from there.

Do you offer remote appointments?

Yes, I work with clients who are out of the area and all remote appointments are by phone and scheduled in PST.

How do remote appointments over the phone work for couples?

Couples can choose their preferred phone setup: sharing one phone on speaker or connecting via conference call from separate locations. Occasionally people express concern that phone could be less effective than video for group calls, but the feedback from my clients is that phone is less distracting and feels very natural.
